This dear fellow could not have been more perfect if he tried. Torts and his brother Orzo had a pretty traumatic entry into this world. When Noodle was giving birth, a baby got misaligned in the birth canal and a vet visit was necessary. After two x-rays and a shot of oxytocin, Noodle finally delivered, though only a few babies survived the ordeal. She was so traumatized by the event that she refused to have anything to do with nursing or rearing the babies, so I drove like a maniac to Bremerton to leave the four survivors with Becky of Spiralrat Rattery's amazing momma doe Sally. Sally the Cow was the best wet nurse I could have hoped for and two of the tiny traumatized babies survived the night and went on to thrive. The fact that Noodle and Tortellini won their Best Kitten ribbons at Port Orchard was just the happiest possible ending to a story that could have been altogether very sad. There was really no question of placing either of the boys after all they've gone through together and it was so marvellous to have mom, dad and both boys home at last. But fate was cruel and a brain aneurism took Torts away from me far too young at just over a year. I don't regret a moment spent with him, I just wish we'd had more time.
