Russian blue self dumbo rex

Sisuetta is an extra-special ratty who has only one front paw. She lost her paw to a thread that became wrapped around her paw when she was just a little baby. The circulation was cut off to the paw for several hours while her breeder Lizzy at SITH Rattery was at work. Despite Lizzy's best efforts to save the paw, it eventually sloughed off leaving a nicely healed stub behind at Sisuetta's wrist joint. Lizzy had to soak Sisuetta's foot several times a day and to give her antibiotics to prevent gangrenous infection of the rest of her leg which could have killed this dear little girl. We went through a similar process earlier in the year with our boy Sisu who lost his two rear feet below the ankle, so Lizzy dubbed her Sisuetta in his honor. Sisuetta is doing wonderfully well and gets around, grooms, eats and plays just like any other healthy young rat. Unlike Sisu, since she does not actually use her arm stump to walk, but rather holds it up out of the way and gets around using three legs, I've not needed to make any modifications to the flooring of her cage. I will try to get some photos of how she uses both paws to handle her food and to climb. Maybe one day she and Sisu will be "married" but for now I'm just enjoying her and her beautiful sister Odessa very much and am so glad they both have been entrusted to my care.
