These little cuties were born in the afternoon on November 12. Rio's delivery was very smooth and healthy and she's a great little rat mom. Despite being a very energetic girl, she's also extremely trusting and allows me to handle the babies even when they are tucked under her in the nest. Rio also decided that the nesting material I'd provided for her was not sufficient and used arcane rat technology to pull in a stuffed Rizzo the Rat from a surprisingly far distance into the cage one evening. Suffice it to say that Rizzo is no more, but Rio's got a really snazzy nest made of stuffing, as you will see below.
