Havana Agouti Berkshire Velveteen

Cuban Pete did, in fact, dance to the rumba beat, though I never actually heard him go "chick chicky boom" on the maracas. Pete was the grandson of one of my all time favorite rats, Andre, and had his ruby-eyed grandpa's habit of scanning his head back and forth to really get a good look at you. When I saw him do that, I knew he had to be mine. He was always a petite fellow but that never stopped him from acting like the biggest rat on the block. Pete was, in a word, fantastic. He left us far too soon, but was such an important part of the family while he was here. He required nursing care the last few months of his life, much like grandpa Dre, but never complained or fussed about his treatment. The only truly bad thing Pete ever did in his life was to break my heart when he left me. He was an absolute perfect angel of a boy and I will love him til the day I die.

Waaaay too many pictures of Pete:

Tiny but mighty!
And quite a leaper!
Pensive Pete

He's a stretch limo of a rat!
Perching Pete
Come back and see me some time!
