"Squeakamaki: Sushi Rats"

Like most of my rats, these two LOVE seafood, especially california roll sushi (don't worry, it's all cooked in that type.) In honor of their culinary names (she's a tibetan dumpling, he's a poultry product) and proclivities, this litter will be given sushi related names. There's nothing fishy about the personalities or health of these two, though. Both are solid, friendly, clever little creatures, with Momo having learned how to sneak out of her cage from her mother Klee Wyck and sister Hisvet. Momo has been gorgeous since birth - a sleek, beautifully pearled light cinnamon. Chicken, who came to us looking like a cross between Furby and a bathmat (his old nickname was CTAB - Chicken, the Alien Bathmat), has grown into his fur and ears very nicely, as his breeder assured us he would, and is quite the handsome velveteen lilac fellow.

Momo had a very hard delivery and, in the end, had to be rushed to the vet for an emergency C-section and hysterectomy. It was another surgical triumph for our amazing veterinarian, Dr. Barb Deeb at Allpet Veterinary, and Momo has recovered beautifully to our immense relief. Momo is one of the dearest, sweetest ladies I've ever known and I think I'd have stopped breeding altogether had I lost her. This was the most dire birth experience I've seen as a breeder and I am so very thankful things did not go any more badly than they did. Not once during her whole horrible ordeal did Momo even attempt to bite or escape despite her pain and fear but instead trusted every human who handled her, knowing we were only trying to help her. She is one amazing girl and I feel very blessed to have her as a fur friend. HUGE thanks to the staff at Allpet and to Zoe and Tamara who cared for her post-surgery while Wil and I were in New York City on business. Happily, Momo did manage to deliver four babies before it all went south and three of those have survived and thrived as foster ratlings with the amazing milkmaid Ella who has raised them as her own.
