Lovely Leia and Pretty Ptolemy became parents on December 20 to 8 babies, one of whom, sadly, was stillborn. The remaining seven are, well, magnificent. We have two little ladies and five little gentlemen. Leia is loathe to get off the nest for something as inessential as photographs, but I did manage to snap this shot on Christmas of the five day old plump pinkies.
The photos below were taken at 12 days of age. Due to the camera flash, the overhead lighting in the rat room and the pale color of the babies, it's very difficult to see the subtle merling and color patterns that are starting to show. I promise to get better photos in another week as their colors darken. Until then, the captions will tell you better what their markings truly appear to be in person.
