Black-eyed white velveteen
Harry is truly the Boy Who Lived. His mother Rosie had a prolonged and difficult delivery and produced only three kittens, Harry being the only survivor. I found Harry cold and not breathing, with his umbilical cord and placenta still attached, lying on the cage litter. I got his cord cut, cleaned him off and gently reinflated his lungs. To my amazement, he started gasping. Rubbing him gently and stimulating him to get him warm and moving, I eventually got him breathing completely on his own. Watching him turn a bright lovely pink from the pale grayish pink he was when I found him was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Rosie was not producing milk, so I immediately placed him with the wonderful Elara, a mom rat with a litter of 7 who I was fostering for a friend. Elara had given birth four days earlier and was nursing like a champ. She seemed quite happy to take on one more and Harry became one of the family quickly. I absolutely adore Harry and look forward to him being old enough soon to move in with his dad, Amazing Larry.
