Pink-eyed white lab rats
Franc and Mozart came to me in May of 2003 from a student at Western Washington University who adopted both boys from the psychology department. These fellows learned to run mazes and press levers for rewards. Both boys were shy and unused to the idea of being pets, but had their friendly moments. They were quite large and healthy, and, frankly, were really hard to distinguish from one another. These guys had quite a bit of personality and were really quite funny when it came to suppertime as they seemed to have a great facility for knocking over their dish and hiding food in the far reaches of their cage. They were not the most pet-like rats around here, but that's not surprising given their background. Quirky is probably the best description of their behavior, though I must admit they were never boring!
