Northwest Rescue and Recycled Rats
Welcome to the Northwest Rescue and Recycled Rats site. NWRRR is dedicated to advertising domestic rats needing homes in the Northwest area, encompassing Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. We are not a shelter, simply an online listing service for individuals needing to place rats only - no cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, etc. Our criteria for accepting rats to this site are that they be either from a rescue situation (neglectful home, legally taken from a lab, taken from an animal hoarder, etc.) or that they be "recycled" - ie. from a home where they can no longer be taken care of due to owners moving, owners' financial situation going south, owners becoming ill or developing allergies to the rats, or other pets or household members behaving in an unfriendly fashion to the rat. At this time, we will consider posting rats from other situations needing homes on a case by case basis. We also sometimes will list mass or special case rescues outside the Northwest region, again, also on a case by case basis. All information on the rats is provided by the people who approach us with rats looking for homes, so we cannot vouch for 100% accuracy of all info. We do strive to make it easy to get pertinent information on the rats to us via our Online NWRRR Form.
Rescue and Recycled Rats make some of the best and most rewarding pets. Some do come with baggage from their previous situations, but nearly all of them respond beautifully to being given love and a second chance. Some of these rats will have behavioral or physical issues, but many are perfectly healthy, happy, friendly rats who just need a second chance at stable, loving home.
If you are interested in posting a rat or rats that you are trying to rehome, please use our Online NWRRR Form. We also strongly recommend that you take a clear photo of the rats to send along with it. Pictures really are worth a thousand words when it comes to displaying your rat in need at his or her best. Please email us when the rat has been placed so that we can remove the outdated listing.
If you are considering adopting a rescue or recycled rat, please check out the pages below which have been arranged by state or province. It is also sometimes possible for delivery to other areas, so if you see a rat that seems out of range geographically, make sure to look at the delivery range section for that rat to see if the owner is willing to travel to meet you.
